Parenting Tip

Hi!

I’m Jan Holloman and I have a parenting tip for you…

Often, when people think of discipline, we think of punishment; however, discipline is really “structure”. We all need guidelines and boundaries to know what’s expected. Children need this even more so! As parents, we have the responsibility of setting and communicating age appropriate limits and expectations, early on, for our children. And even more important, we must be prepared to be consistent in expecting our children to adhere to those limitations, consistently following through with consequences when they don’t. Rules without consequences are fruitless.

The key word here is consistency…the same action gets the same result…every single time!! That’s how children learn what’s acceptable!

Mix lots of love and humor with this, and you’re well on your way to raising a great child!
